Jamie Menard
Jamie Menard was born and raised in Kankakee, Illinois. After leaving high school at 19, he later returned to earn a bachelor’s degree in Education and Learning Disabilities from Southern Illinois University and a master’s degree in Education from Purdue University. He served as a school principal in West Central Indiana.
At 22, Jamie became a Christian through the simple, personal witness of a friend. His faith became central to his life as an educator, husband, father, and business owner. He launched several successful startups, including a water and mold mitigation company.
Though sustained by faith, Jamie also dealt with the lasting effects of childhood trauma—wounds that required both spiritual support and professional therapy to fully heal. This journey of recovery through faith and counseling brought genuine transformation to his life.
Jamie enjoys motorcycles, hiking, and flying small aircraft. Today, he partners with his brother Mike to help others find healing from trauma and grow in their relationship with Christ. His hope is that this devotional offers daily encouragement that grace is available to everyone.
Michael Menard
Michael came to faith through his older brother Jamie when he was 19. Jamie has always been an awesome big brother to Michael and continues to serve as his spiritual leader and guide in research pathways. Michael has told his brother Jamie’s story in his book The Kite That Couldn’t Fly: And Other May Avenue Stories. This brotherly bond has been foundational to both Michael's faith journey and professional growth.
Though sustained by his relationship with Christ, Michael also faced the long-lasting effects of childhood trauma. Like his brother, he discovered that healing required both a spiritual foundation and professional support to address wounds that faith alone didn’t fully resolve.
Michael enjoys collecting and playing acoustic guitars. Today, he and Jamie are co-founders of the nonprofit organization UACT (United Against Childhood Trauma), working together on a shared mission to raise awareness, promote healing, and prevent childhood trauma. His hope is that this devotional provides daily encouragement for others walking the path of recovery, showing that healing is possible through both faith and proper support.
